Trailblazer Guides

Trilblazer logoTrailblazer was started in 1991 by traveller and author, Bryn ThomasBorn in Zimbabwe, he grew up on a farm and his wanderlust began early with camping holidays by the Indian Ocean in Mozambique, and journeys to game parks in other parts of Africa. He then worked for Lonely Planet for ten years. Travel on four continents has included a Saharan journey in a  kit-car he built himself, a solo 2500km Andean cycling trip, and 40,000km of rail travel in Asia. In 1989 his first guide, the Trans-Siberian Handbook, was shortlisted for the Thomas Cook Guidebook Of The Year awards. It is now in its ninth edition.
Trailblazer is a small company run from home, not an international conglomerate. Trailblazer authors have a definite voice and these books are opinionated; we let the author’s voice show through in each guide and they tell it like it is – bad as well as good. Above all, however, we think that a guidebook should inspire the reader to travel and encourage him or her to interact with local people.
We want you – and everyone else – to be infected with the joy of travel.
