South African journalist and filmmaker Neil Shaw travels solo across the length of Africa using trains as much as possible. Along the way he interviews fellow passengers and has some surprising conversations covering topics as wide-ranging as Chinese involvement in Africa, cross border trade, philosophy and the history of the 12,500 kilometre Cape Town to Cairo route. These conversations are not only an opportunity to meet people and get to know them on a personal level but also to touch on bigger issues. Some of Africa’s greatest natural and cultural wonders are also visited en route and the stunning scenery and friendliness of locals adds to the joy of this epic trip.
