Statement from National Trust for Scotland

It is with regret that Brodie Castle has had to cancel the 2019 Scottish Adventure Travel Film Festival at short notice.

The combination of low uptake by festival goers this year and the notification of an unsuccessful grant bid has resulted in the unfortunate decision that we have to cancel the Scottish Adventure Travel Film Festival for 2019. We are obviously disappointed and had hoped that the move to a new venue, with improved accessibility at Brodie Castle would help grow this event which had been successfully established at Inverewe over the previous three years.

“Wider factors and uncertainty do seem to have fed a trend of later than usual bookings for our events.  However, we delayed as long as we could our decision on the Film Festival in the hope that bookings would pick up –  but, as they did not rise above a small number, we weren’t comfortable we would be able to provide the atmosphere of a festival let alone provide a successful event that underpins our charitable purposes. Therefore, we had no other option but to take the difficult decision to not proceed this year.   We apologise for any disappointment this causes.  We are now working closely with all involved the festival preparations to ensure they are not impacted more than necessary”.
